District receives second Bonneville Power Administration Grant The Lewis Soil Conservation District has been notified that they have received the Fiscal Year – 2006 funding from the Bonneville Power Administration for the Little Canyon Creek Watershed area. The purpose of this funding is to restore steelhead trout habitat by reducing nonpoint pollutants into the Little Canyon creek watershed. To achieve this goal, financial assistance will be given to qualified landowners and operators for implementation of best management practices to improve water quality. Cost share funding will be available for structures as well as tillage practices ( no-till ). A ranking system will be used to prioritize applications for this project.
